Probate
The Probate Court is responsible for handling decedent's estate, conservatorship, guardianship, trust, elder abuse cases and other miscellaneous proceedings.
Hon. John Grandsaert is San Mateo County's Probate Judge, effective February 16, 2021. Due to COVID, Judge Grandsaert will hear most Probate calendars and hearings, other than guardianships, remotely through Zoom Audio/Video. Follow this link for the Zoom credentials and remote appearance procedures.
NOTICE

The Probate Court Investigator's office remains closed to the public. Please email PCI@sanmateocourt.org or your assigned investigator regarding any lodgings.

Conservator Classes

The March 11, 2021 Conservator classes will be held online only. Please see this flyer for information on registering for the class(es). Please be sure to register for both classes if you are a conservator of the person and the estate. Please ensure that you have access to a computer or device that has a camera as you will be required to leave the camera on during class to prove attendance.

Calendar Closure

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the impact upon court staffing, the Probate calendar will not be conducted or ex parte applications accepted on the dates outlined in COVID-19 ORDER NUMBER 20.

Many probate disputes can be resolved using appropriate dispute resolution or "ADR."
